Tumble Rodeo '07
Although it was raining cats and dogs,
the brods continued on with the rodeo training at the IAS corral. On
hand to give orientation on the rudiments of the rodeo were Brods
Jonas Labastilla (also of Rancher's Club), Leo Balagot, and yours
truly of the Rodeo '74 Tumbleweeds rodeo team. Modesty aside, with
me as team captain and Leo as co-captain, we spearheaded the
Tumbleweeds which clinched the overall champion in the local Rodeo
'74 and the "1st Marlboro-Greenhills Roundup." According to Brod Uly
Lustria, former IAS professor, the "1st Marlboro-Greenhills Roundup"
might as well be the first national Pinoy rodeo and the Tumbleweeds
were the first national rodeo champions!
It was some kind of a baptism to the resident brods who for the
first time have to face a semi-wild cattle. At first they were
damned scared to face the charging cattle but slowly they were able
to build their confidence as they tried to lasso, wrestle, and cast
down the animal. Of course, the sisters were there as source of
inspiration and to cheer the brods.
Cheers to the Tumbleweeds and let us look forward to the centennial
rodeo!
